The Oddities & Curiosities Expo Poster

Branding & Visual Identity, Image Editing, Layout

The Project

For this class project, I designed a promotional poster for the expo’s stop at the Baird Center in Milwaukee. I wanted the piece to feel like something you’d stumble across in a curiosity shop. Dense, intentional, and a little unsettling in the best way. I built the design by using biological specimens and antique tools, with a Luna moth as the main focal point. Surrounding elements like skulls, medical instruments, and other various oddities are arranged symmetrically to reference antique displays of oddities and specimens.

The Result

The final poster uses high contrast filters to achieve a gothic, vintage, collectible appearance. The arrangement of diverse oddities creates a cohesive visual style that immediately signals the event's niche to the target audience. Despite the complexity of the imagery, the typography remains clear and readable, making sure that the essential location and date information at the Baird Center in Milwaukee is the secondary focal point for potential attendees.
